Description
Like math lessons, science curricula can be vocabulary-dense. Carnivores feed on herbivores, and both are consumers who feed on primary producers, and…. With so many terms in succession, it can be difficult for students to keep up sometimes even with clear explanations.
Science Vocabulary Pictures™, like all of our Get the Picture™ vocabulary card sets are designed to make vocabulary learning and retention quick and easy. Each set of cards has a different science term on the face, illustrated to look like its meaning. The letters in “gear” have teeth and a belt running between them, while “astronomy” has planets for the vowels and the word is set against a starry background. With such clear illustrations, making a connection between the term and its meaning is rapid, aiding in acquisition and recall.
These cards are ideal for hanging on your word wall, then using as a quick daily discussion of a term a day, or as part of an in-depth lesson, discussing several at once.
Each card is printed in full color on 5.5” x 8.5” coated cardstock. Sets 1-4 have 40 terms each, and are not arranged by grade, so please review the word lists to determine appropriateness for your class. Or buy the bundle of all four sets to save time and money!
Early Grades K-2 is a special, customized set of 82 cards that includes the primary-appropriate words from sets 1-4 and 46 additional words.
We also proudly offer definition strips and Spanish word translation strips for these cards, as well as extra vinyl pockets for displaying the card and strip together.

I use these visual vocabulary cards in my 6th grade Earth and Space science and arts infused classroom. Kids ADORE them! You won’t be disappointed, they’re awesome.

We want to thank you for developing the perfect Science vocabulary flash cards to help support our English as a Second Language (ESL) students. We initially ordered them with just our ESL students in mind, but as it turns out they have been helping many of our students who struggle with some of the more difficult science terms. If you are debating about purchasing these cards, you won’t be disappointed. You can tell a lot of thought went into choosing the right photos to help students understand and remember what many of the key science terms mean.

I love these vocabulary picture cards. I have my students create their own based on the ideas and I recommend these to colleagues every chance I get.
